4 Challenges of Patient Access in Healthcare

Below are the biggest patient access challenges

    1. Price Transparency

Price transparency has always been a problem with the patients for patient access systems. There are complains about the price estimates not being provided to the consumers which result in the hospitals failing to meet their goals. There have been beliefs that patients who have chronic conditions and those who have long records are being charged too much for access.

People were charged over $500 for their medical record requests whereas some were charged around $150 for a PDF version of their records. Now whatever the costs of tools like DICOM viewer Mac, this loses the sense of trust from the consumers because they cannot get a proper estimation of the cost and surety about the quality of the service. It is noted that 60% of the consumers don’t even talk about the price of the procedure.

    2. Unsatisfactory Health Information Results

There is no guarantee that the information you have requested will be complete. A lot of unsatisfactory consumers have addressed this issue. The health records they requested weren’t either complete or wrong. Patient access needs to cover provider communication, access to care, quality of care and feedback from the patient. For that better tools and versions like DICOM viewer Mac should be the priority of the organization.

These four things need to be covered at the very least. It is challenging to share their medical information for help in the diagnosis of the disease. If your patient access service is consistently getting bad reviews from unsatisfied consumers, you may have a problem at your hand. Then there is another issue of everything being in the palm of your hand. There have been many developments in the patient record access by the use of mobile application development, patient portals, and other IT solution.

    3. No Means of Transportation

Lots of people don’t have means of transportation to visit a clinic even if they have proper access to the provider to schedule their appointment. There are lots of barriers a patient can face like financial issues and transportation barrier is one of those issues. Patients can be disabled or otherwise not able to obtain a conveyance. Some transport services like Uber and Lyft have decided to offer specialized medical transportation in the most affordable rates. Just like providing correct information with DICOM viewer for Android and other tools, this is also a very good gesture from these organizations as approximately 3.5 million people don’t go to a clinic as they cannot obtain means of transport.

    4. High Rates of Dropped and Abandoned Calls

Health care systems need to consider the high rate of abandoned calls. This is another challenge patient access has to face. If the call is not tended as per the patient’s requirements, then the patients will abandon the call and move elsewhere to tend to their medical issues. The average time to complete a call in the US is 8 minutes. Caller abandonment is one of the biggest challenges and a red flag. It is mostly caused by increased waiting time, slow call transfer rate, too much call transfers, and poor call experience. Call abandonment shouldn’t be a thing to consider and the aim should be less than 2% of abandoned calls.
